CAIR was quick to jump on Donald Trump when he had a protester removed from a rally for disturbing his speech. One of the men was wearing a red turban, like a Sikh would. This happened in Iowa. He was addressing terrorism here in the US and was referencing 9/11 as well as his opponent Ted Cruz. Two protesters in the upper rafters of the arena unfurled a banner that read “Stop Hate.” Security immediately removed both men. Trump then asked the crowd: “He wasn’t wearing one of those hats was he?” That comment was seized on by Trump haters as if he was mocking the man’s turban. But Trump was merely pointing to the crowd when he made the remark and was likely referring to the red “Make America Great Again” hats that he is now famous for. That didn’t stop CAIR from trying to smear him as they always do.
From Western Journalism:
Two protesters wanted attention when Donald Trump brought his campaign to Muscatine, Iowa. They got it.
“When planes fly into the World Trade Center and into the Pentagon and wherever the third plane was going,” Trump was saying to the crowd at the Sunday rally. “When people are shooting their friends in California …”
Then two protesters unfurled a banner that read “Stop Hate.” They were quickly removed by security personnel as the crowd chanted “USA, USA.” One of the men wore a bright red turban of the style worn by adherents of the Sikh faith.
Social media lit up with attacks on Trump as well, by those who either didn’t watch the video or just ran with it. ABC Political Director Rick Klein sent out a tweet with the headline, “Trump Mocks Protester Wearing a Turban.” Once it became clear, even to the media, that Trump was talking about one of his campaign hats, ABC changed its headline to “Protester in Turban Removed from Trump Rally.” The media and their cohorts tried to spin Trump once again as a bigot, which is simply not true and they know it. Headlines all over the media proclaimed that Trump had the man kicked out because he was wearing a turban. The level of hate and deceit here is very, very high. You can look for both CAIR and the media to twist other occurrences at other rallies this way. They are both despicable.
