BREAKING NEWS: Florida Senator Marco Rubio has announced that he is running for the GOP nomination for President.

Rubio will hold a rally tonight at Freedom Tower in Miami, Florida but this morning Rubio already reported that he is in the race[1]. This makes him the second formally announced candidate after Texan Ted Cruz announced his run at the end of March.

Rubio says he feels “uniquely qualified” to be president, the AP reported. He is set to hold a rally this evening at Miami’s Freedom Tower.

The 43-year-old senator elected in 2010 with Tea Party support would become the third Republican in the race.

“Marco Rubio doesn’t fit the typical Republican stereotype of being an old white Republican,” said Nathan Gonzales, editor of the non-partisan Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report. “He has an opportunity to connect with voters through his own story.”

That makes three. At least one other is likely–Jeb Bush–and several others are possible.
