Justice Clarence Thomas Goes Rogue, RAILS Against His Colleagues’ Refusal In Gun Control Case [VIDEO]

This is why I love Justice Clarence Thomas… he truly gets the Constitution and our Second Amendment rights. So does Justice Neil Gorsuch by the way. Last week, Thomas laid into his colleagues over a case that challenged California’s fascist gun laws. Thomas and Gorsuch voted in favor of hearing the challenge to state law limiting gun-carrying permits to only those who can show ‘good cause’. Which is highly subjective and wide open to abusing our right to bear arms.

Thomas stood up and strenuously pointed out that the seven justices who voted to not hear the case don’t grasp the importance of self-defense. And I might add, don’t understand the Constitution as it pertains to the Second Amendment. These people have paid armed guards watching over them all the time. Everyday Americans do not and they need to protect themselves. Every American has a right to be armed and should have the right to conceal carry as well. California enables criminals who are armed and tries to take the right of self-defense away from their citizens which will get them killed.

From Western Journalism:

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas railed against his colleagues for the Court’s refusal Monday to hear a case challenging California’s strict handgun laws.

Only two justices — Thomas and Neil Gorsuch — voted in favor of hearing a challenge by California resident Edward Peruta, who says the state law limiting gun-carrying permits to those showing “good cause” violates the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to bear arms.

Thomas said the seven justices who voted against hearing the case, Peruta v. San Diego, don’t grasp the importance of self-defense.

“For those of us who work in marbled halls, guarded constantly by a vigilant and dedicated police force, the guarantees of the Second Amendment might seem antiquated and superfluous,” Thomas wrote after his colleagues voted against hearing the case.

“But the Framers made a clear choice: They reserved to all Americans the right to bear arms for self-defense. I do not think we should stand by idly while a State denies its citizens that right, particularly when their very lives may depend on it,” Thomas said in his dissent.

Four votes would have been needed to put the case on the Supreme Court docket for October. There were only two. What the hell happened to Alito and Roberts on this one? Gorsuch sided with Thomas, stating the Supreme Court should have heard the “indefensible” ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which upheld the strict restrictions that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’ has placed on concealed carry permits. Under this insane policy, only citizens who can actually prove they have a regular need for self-defense against a specific threat are granted permits.

The Ninth Circuit has already ruled that the Second Amendment “does not preserve or protect the right of a member of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public.” What unconstitutional bull crap. Thomas pointed out that the high court’s refusal to hear the case “reflects a distressing trend: the treatment of the Second Amendment as a disfavored right. The Second Amendment’s core purpose further supports the conclusion that the right to bear arms extends to public carry,” Thomas said. “Even if other Members of the Court do not agree that the Second Amendment likely protects a right to public carry, the time has come for the Court to answer this important question definitively.”

The only good thing here is that we now know that Gorsuch is truly an originalist and supports the Second Amendment. We already knew that Thomas did. Here’s to hoping as two more spots on the high court open up, that President Trump stacks the court with constitutionalists. Then we won’t have miscarriages of justice like this against our gun rights continue to be an ever-present issue.
