Racism is an extremely attractive ideology for the dim and weak and unaccomplished. Dumb white people like thinking that they have some mystical connection to Other Great White People.
Thus it is that an idiot Klansman can think he share some special blood-and-land kinship with Leonardo Da Vinci.
Leonardo Da Vinci doesn’t need to dream up mystical connections to other White People. He’s got enough of his own laurels to not need to grab up on some other White Dude’s accomplishments by claiming a mystical racial river running between them.
And racism is easy. It is very easy to believe an ideology which tells you you are superior, and that others are inferior. And not just inferior — affirmatively evil.
Children believe this, implicitly — half of child development is trying to teach them to stop believing this.
Identity politics should be called what it is, and what it is is Racism. Yes, I know that “racism” doesn’t technically apply to gender, as it doesn’t with religion. (Pendants say that you can’t be racist against Muslims — technically true but trite.)
I’m using Racism as a not-entirely-technically-accurate word to denote all the tropes of My Group Is The Best Group and Your Group Is Subhuman thinking.
….If men sat around doing little but thinking of new ways to say Women Are Terrible, what would we say about them? Well, we don’t have to wonder; the feminists call them anti-women and ugly, despicable monsters.
But when groups of women sit around doing nothing but denigrating men and thinking of new and exciting ways to claim victimization at the hands of men — this is precisely the same thing.
The same with whites who do little but grouse about how Blacks Have Ruined Everything. Racist, we might say.
And yet what do we say of blacks — most of whom are paid to speak on MSNBC — who think and speak nothing except how Terrible White People Are?
They are racists. — Ace
Before you dismiss this as harmless chatter, consider a 2014 article in the academic journal Personality and Individual Differences, titled “Trolls Just Want to Have Fun.” Three Canadian psychologists found that habitual Internet commenting is strongly correlated with hateful personality pathologies. The total amount of time spent posting comments online correlated positively with sadism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism. And this held especially true for those who relished “trolling,” the anonymous posting of negative and destructive comments. The 5 percent of participants who listed trolling as their favorite activity earned the highest scores on those unsavory psychological measures. — Arthur Brooks
Among the myths or lies drummed into the heads of Americans is that we have always been a “nation of immigrants,” and “diversity,” i.e., racial, ethnic and religious diversity, “is a strength.” But America in 1970 was a white nation with a black minority of about 10 percent. And, as Coulter writes, “Nearly the entire white population of America from 1600 to 1970 came from a geographic area of the world about twice the size of Texas. The entire black population came from an area of West Africa about the size of Florida.” — Pat Buchanan
You can’t have people walking around with guns. I used to tell people when we did Bosnia, Kosovo anything like that, you get enough people with weapons around and there will be unattended consequences. People make mistakes People do wrong. Things happen. To hold a community together you got to have a high level of community trust. — Bill Clinton
It was very courageous and brave, if not crazy as well, to open fire on the police headquarters, and now you have this scene, this standoff. — Fredricka Whitfield
I think that, for instance, killing Osama bin Laden and finding out that he was kind of a feeble old man living in a bunker made it seem a little silly. — Amanda Marcotte
The American economy will be strangled and could very well crash and burn in ten years, taking the savings and welfare of all Americans with it. In the pursuit of votes, both parties – but especially the Democrats – have irresponsibly spent money, just to pander to the electorate. America, at this point in history, is a great country, but we are getting weaker by the day. — Bill O’Reilly
By the way, TPA—it’s declassified and made public once it’s agreed to. — Paul Ryan
As the Economist magazine noted in a recent cover story on less-educated men in rich countries, pay for U.S. men with just a high-school degree fell 21% in real terms between 1979 and 2013; for women in this group, it rose by 3%. — Neil Shah
So what distinguishes Jenner from Dolezal? On what basis can we reject Dolezal’s blackness, given that the left has now redefined objective reality as self-definition? If you want to be a woman, you are a woman. If you want to be black, why can’t you be black? — Ben Shapiro
The most solid confirmations of the military success in Iraq were the intercepted messages from Al Qaeda operatives in Iraq to their leaders in Pakistan that there was no point sending more insurgents, because they now had no chance of prevailing against American forces. This was the situation that Barack Obama inherited — and lost. — Thomas Sowell
The concept of “micro-aggression” is just one of many tactics used to stifle differences of opinion by declaring some opinions to be “hate speech,” instead of debating those differences in a marketplace of ideas. To accuse people of aggression for not marching in lockstep with political correctness is to set the stage for justifying real aggression against them. — Thomas Sowell
The liberal media elite, a small group of bitter 35-year-olds lecturing teenagers about transgender pronouns, have little to offer the average voter. — Milo Yiannopoulos
