[1]A study recently came out revealing that today’s generation has to work out harder and eat less than previous generations just to stay equally as fit. Some of us spend hours and hours at the gym every week and are constantly dieting — but can’t seem to lose those last few pounds. Finally, at least eight pills are under development that may mimic the effects of exercise.[2]
The Daily Mail reports,
Scientists from Beijing Sport University in China and the University of British Columbia in Canada reviewed the progress of the potential tablets, which contain different chemicals and work in different ways.
Some encourage the growth of muscle fibre, which improves endurance; others help blood vessels grow in muscles, which makes them work more effectively.
Another chemical being looked at, irisin, stimulates the creation of ‘good’ brown fat, which burns away excess ‘bad’ white fat.
…
Most of the drugs are still in the early stage of being tested on mice. But two have already been put on the banned anti-doping list for athletes.
Glad I’m not an athlete! Let’s hope they come out soon. These pills will also be invaluable for those unable to work out due to illness or paralysis.
