A Tale Of Two Pitches

The first pitch[1]

Former President George W. Bush received a strong standing ovation from Rangers fans as he walked to the mound on Monday afternoon at the Ballpark in Arlington to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day.

Bush threw a strike to Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who was squatting behind home plate.

The second pitch[2]

Yesterday was Opening Day for the Baltimore Orioles as they beat the New York Yankees 10-5 at Camden Yards. Before the game, a special guest was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch; Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden took the mound and threw the first pitch high and outside to Orioles catcher Chad Moeller. Biden is the only sitting Vice President to throw out a first pitch for the Orioles.

Also known as high and fluttering[3]. Listen to the boo-birds go!

Can’t wait till Obama tries his hand at it. I hope, for his sake, he is practicing, so he doesn’t pull a John Kerry and one hop it.

And, before anyone says it, are we not allowed to laugh at Joe The One Man Gaffe Machine Biden, either?
