I received an email from Jane Van Ryan of the API regarding recent developments.

A couple of things have happened that might be of interest to you. First, a district court vacated the Minerals Management Service’s 2007-2012 offshore leasing plan (not the plan that was the topic of field hearings over the past couple of weeks). Here’s a link to the AP news story: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/apr/17/appeals-court-cancels-offshore-drilling-program/[1]

Second, the EPA has determined that greenhouse gases can be associated with health risks. Here’s the AP story: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/apr/17/epa-finds-greenhouse-gases-pose-a-danger-to-health/[2]

The API issued two statements on these new developments. You can find them here: http://www.api.org/newsroom/[3]
