Band Suffers When ‘Eagles of Death Metal’ Singer Blames Paris Attacks on ‘Liberal Mentality’

Frontman for the desert rock band Eagles of Death Metal, Jesse Hughes, witnessed firsthand the destruction of at least 89 innocent lives at the Bataclan Theater in Paris. This is just sad.[1]

From the Independent Journal:

The band was about an hour into their concert when the gunmen arrived and opened fire on the crowd. People fled en-masse to wherever they could hide; some even pretended to be dead.

But that didn’t stop these madmen. They executed wounded and hiding men and women before the French police finally put an end to the horrible ordeal by storming the front door.

Now Hughes is facing a new challenge: his ability to speak freely about the event that changed his life.

Due to a recent interview with Gavin McInnes where Hughes blamed Muslims and the ‘liberal mentality’ for the attacks, a number of his band’s performances have been canceled in France.

Festival Cabaret Vert and Festival Rock En Seine released a short statement on their website:

“Being in total disagreement with Jesse Hugues’ recent allegations given in an [interview] with an american media, both Cabaret Vert & Rock en Seine festivals have decided to cancel the band’s performance. We thank you for your understanding.”

The French festival organizers may have also been upset that Hughes at one point implied that Bataclan security staff may have been involved in the attacks. He apologized for that comment initially, but brought it back up with McInnes.

The 43-year-old rocker made many claims about how Muslims reacted to the attack:

“A day after, at the stadium, Muslims booed the moment of silence and we barely heard about it in the press. I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack. I saw it with my own eyes. In real time! How did they know what was going on? There must have been coordination.”

When McInnes asked if “liberal mentality created this need to surrender” last week, Hughes was not afraid to answer:

“I will lay the blame right in its lap. When you tell people they can’t help themselves and that they’re children, you weaken them to a point where three feet away is life and they can’t see it because they’re too scared.

It’s like the bleating sheep from Animal Farm. You suggest anything that strays from the narrative and this chorus of bleats comes to drown you out. This attack didn’t happen by accident.”

Whether you support the music of not, this is just sad. Please remember to keep the families and loved ones affected by the Paris attacks in your thoughts and prayers.
