After the election of President-elect Donald Trump, many companies dropped the Ivanka Trump fashion line.
First Lady Michelle Obama’s personal fashion consultant even refused to dress Mrs. Trump (not that anyone asked her anyway.) But it would appear that not everyone in the fashion community is anti-Trump.

Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger came to the defense of Ivanka Trump and the future First Lady[2], claiming that people shouldn’t allow politics to play a part in deciding who they will and will not work with.
“I think Melania is a very beautiful woman and I think any designer should be proud to dress her,” Hilfiger said at an event Tuesday night in New York City.
“Ivanka is equally as beautiful and smart, although she wears her own clothes. I don’t think people should become political about it. Everyone was very happy to dress Michelle [Obama] as well. I think they look great in the clothes. You’re not gonna get much more beautiful than Ivanka or Melania,” he continued.
I agree that Ivanka and Melania are gorgeous women. They’re essentially walking clothes hangars and can make anything look good. If I were a clothing designer, I would absolutely want both of them wearing what I had to offer, because there’s no better advertisement than having the most powerful woman in the nation walking around in your outfits.
Hilfiger is right, politics is playing too large a part in the lives of Americans and it’s affecting how we conduct ourselves publicly and privately. We’ll never achieve unity if the only thing we seek is the back-patting of yes men.
