Donald Trump has made yet another common sense appointment and this time it’s the U.S. Ambassador to Israel.

Instead of allowing someone an ambassadorship based on how much money they’ve given him in the past, Trump is putting in people who actually have a dog in that region’s fight.

Is Trump making Israel great again, too?

Our President-elect has just named David Friedman to be our next Ambassador to Israel. Friedman is an Orthodox Jew and Attorney, and has very conservative views on the nation, so this is a fantastic pick in my opinion.

Friedman was an advisor to Trump during the campaign and was his lawyer for corporate bankruptcy proceedings in the past. He supports Israeli settlement construction, has pooh-poohed the idea of an independent state of Palestine, and is a key player in Trump’s relatively hardline pro-Israel positions, among them, moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Politico reports.

Trump gave a statement on his pick that dripped patriotism and love for the tiny nation.

“The bond between Israel and the United States runs deep, and I will ensure there is no daylight between us when I’m President,” Trump said in a statement Thursday evening. “As the United States’ ambassador to Israel, David Friedman will maintain the special relationship between our two countries. He has been a longtime friend and trusted adviser to me.”

It will be nice to have a President that actually cares about what happens to our only true ally in the Middle East.
