Colin Kaepernick. For those who don’t know who this guy is, he was made famous by his bold choice not to stand during the National Anthem. Also, he happens to be a San Fransisco 49ers teammate. But it is not looking like that will last for very much longer. Recent information shows that Colin Kaepernick won’t be able to hold onto that job for very much longer. This will be his final season as a San Fransisco 49ers football player.

Apparently negotiations have been underway between Colin Kaepernick, his handlers and the San Fransisco 49ers for quite some time now. And the outcome doesn’t look too fantastic for that football player. A new contract has been created and finalized. And according to an individual with information on the negotiations ,starting in March, Kaepernick will be a free agent.

I won’t lie. I can’t say that I am sad to see him go. He has been a disgrace to his team and his country. We live in a country that has sacrificed so much. And it is a country where so many have sacrificed all they have. That is what the flag represents.

Colin Kaepernick has made it clear that he can’t stand under a flag that represents a country with race issues. It seems like he isn’t aware what the flag has flown over. This is the flag that the first black regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, carried as they fought. This is the Union’s flag. This is the flag of the Tuskegee Airman. This is the flag that Abraham Lincoln fought to preserve while ending slavery in The United States. This is the flag that Martin Luther King marched under.

The flag means so much more than this young man seems to understand. He can kneel if he would like rather than show respect. He has that right because of that flag, not despite it. And while he has that right, I think this NFL team will do much better without him.
