That, of course, means some immediate
propaganda work repackaging by the Obama team after all the shots they threw her way during the primaries:
“What exactly is this foreign policy experience?” Obama said mockingly of the New York senator. “Was she negotiating treaties? Was she handling crises? The answer is no.”
No, she was dodging sniper fire in Tuzla. But in fact, in terms of real foreign policy experience, Clinton’s resume is as slim as Obama’s.
And then there’s that other factor, like the 800 lb gorilla in the room everyone wants to ignore: Bill Clinton and what he’s been up too since 2000. One of the conditions of Hillary’s Sec State job is that Bill has to disclose his list of donors. But that’s not all:
The disclosure of contributors is among nine conditions that Mr. Clinton signed off on during discussions with representatives of Mr. Obama; all go beyond the requirements of law. Among other issues, he agreed to incorporate his Clinton Global Initiative separately from his foundation so that he has less direct involvement. The initiative, which promotes efforts to fight disease, poverty and climate change, would no longer hold annual meetings outside of the United States or accept new contributions from foreign governments.
Mr. Clinton also agreed to submit his future personal speeches and business activities for review by State Department ethics officials and, if necessary, by the White House counsel’s office.
Even with all of that, or perhaps because of it, the confirmation hearing ought to be entertaining at least. As for Hillary’s experience, or lack thereof in foreign affairs? Hey, who cares – apparently the country has decided that experience just isn’t that much of a big deal, given who is to be sworn in on Jan. 20th. They’ll learn on the job together.
That just gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling doesn’t it?
