Sylvester Stallone becomes a Christian[1]It’s a few years old now, but this interview with Sylvester Stallone is seeing a revival -er, resurgence. Mostly panned by the mainstream press when it came out in 2006, most people never knew about the star’s Christian testimony. With all the bad news coming out of Hollywood these days, a few conservative websites are picking up on it as one of the bright spots still left there. In the interview, Stallone bares his soul to Pat Robertson on how he deserted his Catholic faith after making it big in Hollywood, but found Jesus again years later while making the final Rocky movie, Rocky Balboa.[2]

The Conservative Tribune describes his confession,

“He’s at his lowest depths, because how can this be? It’s about pulling yourself up from the doldrums of society and depression and clawing your way back up, finding the light, finding the spirit and moving on.”

After 12 years of spiraling down in Hollywood, Stallone explained what happened,

“I really decided to take things out of my own hands, and put them in God’s hands, cuz I always felt I was chosen to do something. I was never a writer, I was never an exemplary student. All of a sudden one day, I started writing Rocky, I wrote it in three days, and it wins an Oscar. I cannot assume I did this on my own. I really do not believe that for a second. And I feel the same way with the last film. I feel there was a calling, and I listened to it.”

For those of us who grew up with Rocky and Rambo and were huge fans of Stallone, the interview was nothing less than inspiring. Instead of going down the dark path of Hollywood and promoting political correctness, living an amoral, drug-ridden life, he has gone against the grain and instead is a light in the midst of degeneracy. Stallone ends the interview, “By the grace of God, I’m here again … God bless.”
