Secret Service agents and private security rushed on the stage and hustled Donald Trump offstage on Saturday evening during a rally in Reno, Nevada after they observed a protester in the audience who might pose a danger to the Republican presidential candidate.
‘Go! Go!’ agents yelled as they ferried Trump away from the sketchy disturbance. The local police who were hired to do the event and private security wrestled Austyn Crites, 33, to the ground right in the middle of the crowd.
Crites states proudly that he is a Republican who is voting for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate, according to his Facebook page.
A senior Trump campaign official told the media that the protester under investigation, whom rally-goers already pointed out as an anti-Trump protester, caused a terror when he reached into his waistband in what looked to be a gun drawing move.
It was at that point that security called out over their communication devices, ‘He’s got a gun!’
Trump’s protective detail went right to work, pulling him offstage as a mob of bodies scattered, screams rang out and authorities dragged Crites away as he continued to kick, scream and fight.
The U.S. Secret Service released information on the event, stating that a ‘commotion’ happened when ‘in the crowd immediately in front of the stage’ and ‘an unidentified individual shouted, “gun”. Secret Service agents and Reno police officers immediately apprehended the subject. Upon a thorough search of the subject and the surrounding area, no weapon was found.’
Authorities have so far not confirmed or denied that any weapon was found on Crites, or any other attendee of the rally. One witness told the media that a holstered gun was seen holstered and on the hip of a plainclothes officer, which may have added to the confusion.
Is this a sign of more to come?
