EX-NFL Player-Turned Corrections Officer Gets Charged…For Running ‘Juvie’ FIGHT CLUB!

A former Chicago Bears player is suspected of being the organizer of a teenage fight club in prison, authorities said. Ex-NFL star Johan O. Asiata was charged on multiple counts of misconduct, aggravated battery and one count of unlawful restraint for his role in the teen-delinquent fight club.

Prosecutors say that in January, Asiata as well as three fellow corrections officers at the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles, Illinois, talked up certain teenage inmates to go after and beat other inmates.

Asiata, and his fellow guards Michael M. Klimek, Andre L. McFarland and Elliott J. Short, are said to have then used the fights as entertainment for themselves, doing nothing to stop or aid those who were being attacked.

The ‘fight club’ as it’s called, included a total of 10 teenagers and fights occurred on at least six separate occasions last January.

Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon had the following to say:

‘Correctional facilities are not supposed to be nice pleasant places, but they’re also not supposed to be places where people are exposed to harm from correctional employees.’

The Illinois Department of Corrections found out about the allegations at the end of that month and immediately put all four guards on paid administrative leave while the Illinois State Police took care of the investigation. Asista, 30, who used to play for the Chicago Bears, was arrested. But of course the ex-athlete could afford the bond and was released the next day. His appearance in court is scheduled to happen on December 8th at the Kane County Judicial Center.

The former football star has done himself in with this one and he faces two to five years in prison or probation if convicted of the crimes. This guy is the kind of guy no real law enforcement officer wants on the job. Good riddance. These kind of guys make the job harder for the real ones.
