A Florida man broke his fishing rod attempting to pull a 552-pound grouper[1] out of the water, but got the ride of his life while doing it.

big fish[2]

Jon Black reportedly landed the biggest bottom fish ever caught while kayak fishing. Catching a big fish is always impressive, but Black’s catch was pretty unbelievable due to the fact the fish was so large that it broke his fishing rod.

The reactions to the catch say it all.

According to the YouTube description, the giant grouper measured in at 83 inches long with a girth of 73 inches. The fish was estimated to weigh 552 pounds.

Better luck next time!
