A number of first responders from Harris County recently won the EMS for Children Crew of the Year Award. More importantly was Ayden Duarte, the 4-year-old they saved, being there to be able to say thank you[1].

On Friday, he had the chance to thank his rescuers, from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and Life Flight, as they were all honored with the EMS for Children Crew of the Year Award.

Ayden walked around the event saying “Thanks” it to anyone who would listen, not sure who was who standing above him, but knowing everyone there had a part to play.

“They saved my life,” said Ayden.

Ayden was brutual stabbed by his mother.  Hopefully she is locked under the jail somewhere.
