Haley Drops the Hammer on the UN: ‘The US Will Not Be Told by Any Country Where We Can Put Our Embassy’

The United States has had to stand up to the United Nations for quite some time and it seems like under the Trump administration, that is finally happening. Nikki Haley is not taking any of their crap and refuses to be pushed around by any country.

It seems like the good people of the UN are refusing to acknowledge our decision to put our embassy in Jerusalem, recognizing it as the official capital of Israel, dating back to biblical times. But Haley wasn’t having it.

A one-page, Egyptian-drafted resolution rejected Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It was voted on by a 15-member council, which ended in a 14-1 vote. I’m sure you can guess who voted against it.

This didn’t go without a fiery reaction from Haley, who is refusing to allow anyone to tell the United States where we can place our embassies.

“The United States refuses to accept the double standard that says we are not impartial when we stand by the will of the American people by moving our U.S. embassy, but somehow the United Nations is a neutral party when it consistently singles out Israel for condemnation,” she noted derisively.

“The United States’ recognition of the obvious, that Jerusalem is the capital and seat of the modern Israeli government, is too much for some,” she continued, still heated. “First, some have threatened violence on the street, as if violence would somehow improve the prospect of peace. Now today, buried in diplomatic jargon, some presume to tell America where to put our embassy. The United States has a sovereign right to determine where and whether we establish an embassy.”

“The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy,” she concluded. “Buried even deeper in the jargon of this resolution is the accusation that the United States is setting back the prospects of peace in the Middle East. That is a scandalous charge.”

I think the “prospects of peace in the Middle East” ship sailed a long time ago, when people decided that their religion allows them to murder non-believers and get into heaven for it. Perhaps it’s time to give up that particular dream and settle for simply defending Israel from the endless number of barbarians who are at the gate. The Middle East doesn’t get to do whatever it wants without consequence while Israel sits idly by, allowing their people to be murdered.

And most importantly, no nation gets to tell the United States what we can and cannot do.
