This is the exact kind of scenario that all of us gun-owners never want to find ourselves in, but are prepared for.
When a Florida deputy found himself the target of a violent suspect, a good Samaritan with a concealed carry weapon dropped in to help out.

Deputy First Class Dean Bardes, a 12-year-veteran, was working an accident scene when the suspect confronted him with a gun and then took off, prompting a high-speed chase. After both vehicles stopped, the men exited their vehicles and a fight ensued.
Another man pulled up to the scene, where the officer was underneath the suspect and was being beaten. The man pointed a gun at the suspect and told him that he would shoot if the man didn’t get off of the officer.
Apparently the man didn’t grasp the gravity of the situation and continued to assault the officer, and was very quickly… dispatched by the CCW owner.
Bardes is fine, but was exhausted after the scuffle, as I imagine anyone would be.
This is one of those times when I’m really glad to have the Second Amendment. It’s entirely possible that if that man hadn’t come along, or if he hadn’t had access to the weapon that he’d purchased, that we could be viewing an entirely different scenario right now.
