Jennifer Lawrence Jokes About ‘Sacred Site’ – Offended Natives Make Her Regret It

Jennifer Lawrence is starring in a new movie called “Passengers” coming out soon. Which, by the way, looks amazing! To promote the film, she appeared on the Graham Norton Show.[2] While there she managed to step on some toes and do some serious offending.

She told a super “funny” story about how she disrespected a sacred place in Hawaii while filming there.

You’re not supposed to sit on them, because you’re not supposed to expose your genitalia to them. I, however, was in a wetsuit for this whole shoot – oh my god, they were so good for butt itching!

One rock that I was butt-scratchin’ on came loose, and it was a giant boulder and it rolled down this giant mountain and almost killed our sound guy. It was this huge, dramatic deal – and all the Hawaiians were like: ‘Oh my god, it’s the curse!’. And I’m in the corner going, I’m your curse. I wedged it loose with my ass.

As you might imagine many people did not think it was anywhere near funny. In fact, many people lashed out and made it very clear they were offended. A surprising number of people, however, bonded together to let her know they were still there by her side.

“Oh for Gods sake it was funny poking at yourself. People need to get over their stupid feeling that everyone is talking about them! Happy Holidays Jen!”

“If we all apologized every time we offended any of the billions of superstitions humanity has seen fit to create there there would be no time to do anything else.”

“I really appreciate that—I was worried all your fans (I was one) who visit Hawai’i who watched the episode would think it’s so funny that it would be okay to destroy our historical sites here, which in some cases are very imbued with mana and spiritual significance.”

Just apologize and move on…… then we can as well.
