NY Post reporter Chris Perez doesn’t know the difference between a reporter and a columnist.

So I sat down this morning to read the New York Post and see how they treated the story of Kim Davis, the Kentucky County Clerk who refused to issue a marriage certificate to same sex couples.

To my surprise Chris Perez[2] a reporter wring for the NY Post started his article this way:

 

“A federal judge on Thursday jailed the hypocritical Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, as hundreds of protesters cheered outside the courthouse, “Love Won!”

 

For a second I thought I was on the Opinion page of the paper which usually in the middle of the tabloid. But, no it was page 3 of the paper. It was supposed to be a news article.

Later in the article Mr. Perez wrote:

 

“Despite being on her fourth marriage and bearing two kids out of wedlock, the 49-year-old Rowan County clerk insisted she answers to a higher authority. “I promised to love Him with all my heart, mind and soul because I wanted to make heaven my home,” she told the judge.”

 

I guess Mr. Perez was explaining how Kim Davis is a hypocrite. But, here’s the problem. Chris Perez is a REPORTER, not a columnist. His job is to write the who, what, where, when and why of a story. That’s it!

I don’t know what J Scholl Chris Perez attended. But, somebody needs to check his degree because he clearly doesn’t know his job. In fact, the editor of the New York Post needs to get his credentials checked too because he or she doesn’t know the difference between a reporter and a columnist either.

The day they give Perez a byline and his own column, then he’s allowed to insert his opinion all over the place. But, until then Mr. Perez needs to take another class until he gets his job right.
