Obligatory “Obama’s Fighting Against Obama’s Own Words” Post

by William Teach | August 4, 2009 5:09 pm

By now, you’ve probably heard about and watched the dueling video’s regarding Obama on government health service (again, I refuse to use the word care in the discussion anymore.) First up there is the video[1] found regarding what Obama has actually stated about what he wants to see happen vis-a-vis single payer, featured at The Drudge Report and Breitbart.tv. The White House decided that using Obama’s own words was taking them out of context. Well, Breitbart has a full undedited version[2]. You tell me if it stands up to the light.

Anyhow, the White House, still not able to move from campaign mode into governance mode, decided to respond with their own little video[3], as reported by The Politico[4]

The video begins: “Hi. I’m Linda Douglass. I’m the communications director for the White House Office of Health Reform, and one of my jobs is to keep track of all the disinformation that’s out there about health-insurance reform. And there are a lot of very deceiving headlines out there right now, such as this one — take a look at this one. This one says, ‘Uncovered Video: Obama Explains How His Health Care Plan Will Eliminate PRIVATE Insurance.’

“Well, nothing can be farther from the truth. You know the people who always try to SCARE people whenever you try to bring them health-insurance reform are at it again. And they’re taking sentences and phrases out of context, and they’re cobbling them together to leave a VERY false impression. The truth is that the president has been talking to the American people a LOT about health-insurance reform and what is at stake for them.

“So what happens is that because he’s talking to the American people so much, there are people out there with a computer and a lot of free time, and they take a phrase here and there — they simply cherry-pick and put it together, and make it sound like he’s saying something that he didn’t really say.”

In essense, they are assaulting private citizens engaged in Free Speech for daring to post what Obama actually said multiple times. However, notice what is missing: any actual rebuttal of what Obama actually said. They just tell us about someone being scary or something. Here is where it gets even more interesting. And fascist. From an email I received from Adam Bitely at Netright Nation

Fellow Bloggers,

Obama is asking for us to report suspicious reports on Health Care. Essentially, he wants to find who is behind reporting the truth on his proposed socialized medicine. From the White House:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov[5]. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

He is asking everyone to email this address with tips: flag@whitehouse.gov[5].This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Here is what we need to do. Email that address reporting Barack Obama for not telling the truth on Health Care. Let’s try and flood that inbox with as many reports about Obama and his minions attempting to deceive the public as possible.

Now, I’m not going to ask you to do as he asks, because trying to get Conservatives to do things is like herding cats. We are just too independent minded. But, go ahead and do it anyhow. There is just something extremely unseemly and disturbing when an email like that is sent from the Executive Office, asking Obamazombies to report information from other private citizens on to the government, information that is coverd by the 1st Amendment.

PS: the snoopy-snitch message actually appears on the White House website[6], which, last time I checked, was an official government site, comrades.

Michelle Malkin[7] has more, as does Jammie Wearing Fool[8]. Can also head to Dr. Melissa Clouthier’s[9] spot, as well as Atlas Shrugs[10], Q&O[11], . MyDD[12] sees nothing wrong with it, nor does “The Moderate Voice[13].” Go figure.

Heh. Gaius[14] says something fish(y) to the WH.
