Pigeon caught in Costa Rica flying drugs into prison

homing pigeon[1]Inmates desperate for drugs have gotten really creative, turning to homing pigeons to sneak the substances through jail bars. One inmate was unsuccessful, as the prison guards spotted a bulge on his pigeon, which turned out to be a baggie of drugs.[2]

Unilad reports,

The pigeon was obviously caught by guards at La Reforma Penitentia, in San Jose, and must have given them quite a shock when they looked in the little bag that was strapped to the bird.

He was carrying 14 grams of cocaine and 14 grams of marijuana, which is a pretty big load for such a small bird.
The poor pigeon is being locked up for the next 40 days, to make sure it doesn’t fly straight back to the people who originally strapped the drugs onto it.

It just goes to show how desperate and miserable inmates are once they choose to ignore the rules of society and lose their freedom. Sadly, the majority of felons go on to commit another felony, and never learn their lesson, ending right back behind bars.
