A restaurant has been shut down by the NEA after a customer’s picture went viral. Hotpot Culture served their customers a tasty dish of vegetables, with a heaping serving of rat, too — yummy!

The National Environment Agency (NEA) has suspended the operations of Hotpot Culture, a restaurant at Marina Square, after a customer reported finding a rat in a tray of vegetables at its porridge buffet.

A Facebook post by Ms Caron Chan has been circulating over the internet, with the caption: “Spot the #RAT in the vegetable dish. Taken at Hotpot Culture at Marina Square for the $8.80 porridge buffet with my colleagues for lunch. It was “business as usual” right after removing the dish tray. Enough said.”

An NEA spokesperson said: “The restaurant has been instructed to suspend its operations immediately while NEA conducts its investigations.”

Apparently, the restaurant wasn’t bothered by the giant rat carcass in their food. This may be a situation where government intervention was actually needed for once.
