Something Funny Happened On The Way To The Truth…

After years of whining that we need to get to the truth behind everything George Bush has done, and some actual panels investigating things such as firing attorneys he was legally entitled to fire, when a Democrat is faced with putting up or shutting up, things go a bit differently[1]

The drumbeat over how much House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew about waterboarding landed squarely on the chamber floor today in the form of a resolution calling for an investigation into the controversy. Perhaps not surprisingly, Pelosi won the skirmish.

Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, offered the proposal (full text and point at Bishop’s web page[2]), which seeks a bipartisan committee to investigate whether the CIA misled Congress, as Pelosi has claimed. The resolution, Bishop said, was intended only to “establish a process whereby the veracity of this particular issue can be identified.”

Certainly, if Democrats are so sure that Queen Nancy is correct, and the CIA are liars, they would welcome a chance to embarrass Republicans, particularly Bush and Mr. Rising Popularity[3], Dick Cheney, right? Um, no

The final vote: Two Republicans joined with 250 Democrats and voted against considering the appeal while 172 Republicans voted for consideration.

The two Republicans who joined were Walter B. Jones (R-NC) and everyone’s favorite crazy uncle, Ron Paul.

Meanwhile, Pelosi gets poor marks[4] for her handling of this issue. Somehow, Barry gets good marks, despite having done zip. And he still is opposed[5] to an actual Truth Commission. I guess that would make sense, since Obama has pretty much adopted[6] most of Bush’s policies in fighting the war on terrorism, dealing with the Gitmo detainees, etc.

PS: CNSNews has a funny video[7] of Democrat Congress Critters fleeing when asked about Pelosi.
