Can you bring the holidays to a hero?

It’s that time of year again.

People are buying pumpkins to carve Jack-O-Lanterns with. Leaves are changing, you can find Christmas decorations in abundance, and families are making plans for how they will spend their holidays together.

For some families, this won’t be possible. There are approximately 140,000 troops deployed overseas for the holidays this year — 140,000 heroes who won’t be able to celebrate with their families. 140,000 heroes won’t have a holiday this year.

Soldiers Angels is stepping in to try to change that with their Holidays for Heroes drive.

In homes across America, there will be an empty chair this holiday season. The man or woman usually sitting in that chair is in the military, serving overseas. There is no family Christmas for those brave soldiers. The Soldiers’ Angels family wants every deployed hero to know they are remembered and appreciated during the holidays.

Soldiers’ Angels is asking for your help during the upcoming holiday season. The United States Armed Forces has over 140,000 deployed troops throughout the world. Our goal is to get a gift and personal holiday message into the hands of all the deployed men or women this Christmas season.

Please donate to sponsor a “Holiday Gift Bag” for a deployed soldier. Each gift bag contains either a Soldiers’ Angels stainless steel mug or a Christmas stocking, with white socks, a 150 minute International Pre-Paid phone card, hot cocoa mix, hot cider mix, power bar, candy, and a hand-written Christmas card. The cost is $10 per mug or stocking, or $25 with goodies and overseas shipping included. Can you sponsor one or a few? Can you send a holiday card with a personal note? If you are interested in helping, please download and order form right now.

Thank you and we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday season!

It may seem early to be thinking of Christmas for some, but these packages have to be sent out soon in order to make it in time. Their goal is to make sure that every single man or woman serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, or is wounded in a military hospital, gets a package — 140,000 gift packs that need to be purchased, assembled, and shipped around the world.

Donations are needed to help ease the cost of shipping — even $10 can help bring the holidays to a hero overseas. You can make a donation through PayPal on the Soldiers Angels website, or you can send a check or money order to:
