Crist and Rubio

Things are getting interesting in the Senate run in Florida. Charlie Crist is now going to run as an independent because it had become clear that Marco Rubio, a Tea Party favorite in that state, was going to defeat him.

But get this. Crist, who as Governor cozied up to Obama for the Stimulus debacle, decided that a little payback may be in order. He tried calling the White House chief of staff Emanuel and the call was refused[1].

Did he want to see if the Democrat Meek would drop out and support him? Crist is learning what all politicians who are snakes learn. If you back another snake don’t imagine that they will return the favor. Survival is all that matters.

You have to know that Sen. Cornyn, head of the NRSC is banging his head against the wall. How many more Republican candidates will back stab him during his tenure?

This will make things interesting, but I’m confident in Rubio. He is just the kind of candidate the Tea Party is bringing out, and the kind we need. He is the son of Cuban exiles. He comes from a humble background, well educated, and Bi-lingual. He was speaker of the Florida State House until 2008.

He is the fresh new face we need. Out with the old, in with the new. I think we all agree that that would be a good thing for both the Democrat and the Republican party.

Go Rubio!

Polls show at least four candidates favored by the National Republican Senatorial Committee would lose their primaries if the elections were held today. And five other committee-preferred candidates are entangled in competitive contests that are far from sure bets . . . top-tier talent like Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, former Connecticut Rep. Rob Simmons, Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in California appeared to be huge wins for the party, not to mention shrewd political plays.

Sen. Cornyn needs to start understanding this changing dynamic. We are not going with the status quo anymore. We want real conservatives. We aren’t just going to let the GOP establishment pick our candidates anymore. We are going to pick them. The NRSC needs to start following the people’s lead.
