Do Democrats Believe That Blacks Need To Be Whiter To Be Elected?

I know that we are beating this horse to death with Harry Reid and his racial remarks, but this point just has to be made. An e-mailer over at NRO pointed this out:

“Harry Reid’s] remark’s context is (apologies) remarkable. From media reports, it appears that the Majority Leader made these statements to a group of Dems to get them to line up behind Obama. If so, for Reid to pull out the color bar and assess the lightness or darkness of Mr. Obama’s skin then to comment essentially that he sounds white enough to get elected, in an effort to sell Democrats on him, really points to the depths of the bigotry and racism and hypocrisy within the party of slavery, its leadership, or both.”

True. Reid was trying to convince Democrats to get on board with Obama, and he has to do that by assuring them that Obama has no “negro dialect” and is “lightskinned?” Good grief people. The mask was lifted. Take a good long look at it. If it doesn’t say that Reid was racist, then it certainly implies that the Democrats had to be convinced that this black man was “white” enough to be elected.:

Seems to me that Republican: former Rep. J.C. Watts wasn’t “lightskinned” and he managed to get elected as a Republican! Maybe Republicans don’t have to be convinced that a black person needs to look whiter to get elected.

Add to this, the interesting look into Bill Clinton’s thoughts on Obama in private also: from NRO:

The First Black President explains his thinking:[1]: (From the new book, “Game Change)

The day after Iowa, [Bill Clinton] phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

It’s one thing to make the point of how amazing it is that in the not too distant past someone like Obama would not be able to vote, much less win the Presidency, but to frame it this way? To make this snide reference that he would be bringing these politically: powerful white men coffee?? It’s truly insulting.

Shame on Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, The NAACP, Pre. Obama, and the rest for: defending Reid, and how they will certainly defend Clinton on this.:

This isn’t just about hypocrisy in how it would be treated if Republicans had said it, it’s about the liberal black community letting these men get away with an unfair: sterotype of black men just because they share: their political views.

It’s pathetic.
