Ezra Levant announces a Union of Bloggers

by Kathy Shaidle | February 9, 2008 10:28 am

As most of you know, Ezra Levant is the free speech hero who faced down Canada’s “Human Rights” tribunal, defended his right to publish the “Mohammed” cartoons — and uploaded video of his stirring defense to YouTube.

A defamation lawyer himself, Levant has now started a sort of “bloggers defense league”,[1] to defend bloggers against nuisance complaints and suits.

He even has his first case! Levant is personally representing, pro bono, a Canadian blogger whose satirical post about “liberal fascism” has upset a thin-skinned Liberal Party operative.

And yes, the Union of Bloggers is asking for support from around the world.

After all, the internet knows no boundaries. And freedom of speech is a universal right.
