John Edwards: The Problem Isn’t Ahmadinejad, It’s The Jews Who Don’t Want Him To Kill Them

From a column by Peter Bart[1] via Hillary Spot[2]:

The aggressively photogenic John Edwards was cruising along, detailing his litany of liberal causes last week until, during question time, he invoked the “I” word — Israel. Perhaps the greatest short-term threat to world peace, Edwards remarked, was the possibility that Israel would bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities. As a chill descended on the gathering, the Edwards event was brought to a polite close.

This statement is a real window into the foreign policy views of liberals like Edwards. In his world, the problem isn’t Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the terrorist supporting, Islamo-Fascist, holocaust denier, who has threatened to destroy Israel and is seeking nuclear weapons, it’s the Jews who are determined not to be victims of a 2nd Holocaust.

How could a man with that sort of warped mentality effectively run the war on terror? He couldn’t and neither could any of the other liberals running for President.

Update #1: The Edwards campaign is now backtracking hard[3], undoubtedly after being reminded of how weak this makes him sound and how important Jewish votes and campaign donations will be in determining who wins the Democratic primary:

“Columnist Peter Bart reports that Edwards told a Hollywood fundraiser last month that the possibility that Israel would bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities is perhaps the greatest short-term threat to world peace.

Edwards’ spokesman Jonathan Prince says the article is erroneous. He says Edwards says one of the greatest short-term threats to world peace is Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon.”
