Melissa Clouthier and I are rocking the video blogging – sorry about my delay. It’s ustream’s fault.
9:54 – I had some seriously unbelievable technical issues. Like, my whole neighborhood was powerless so I apologize.
9:58 – Wow. Did he really just attack the Supreme Court? Had anyone ever gone after the SCOTUS like that?
10:05 – If Obama REALLY wanted a bipartisan effort, he’d quit addressing the Republican and Democratic parties and start addressing the US Congress.
10:07 – “As a candidate I promised that I would end this war. And that’s what I am doing as President.”
10:07 – “Make no mistake” for the 348749th time. If you’ve been drinking on that one, I’m saying a prayer for your liver.
10:09 – He just promised that in four years we will secure all the nuclear material in the world – wait, really? I didn’t think he could top his campaign promises.
10:11 – He just stated that the world is more united than when he took office. Who’s buying that? Tell that to the Israelis who are burning his flag. Tell that to the Indonesians who are tearing down the statue that they had built for him. Unbelievable.
10:12 – I’m having trouble with this speech. I really expected this to be better than it is.
10:15 – Some tweets:
@Jimmiebjr – “I have embraced the vision of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan” Okay. Except you embraced the competence of Jimmy Carter & Herbert Hoover
Arlen Specter from the Senate floor – “I agree, it’s time to end don’t ask don’t tell”
“I never suggested the change would be easy.” – Obama.
10:19 – @johnhawkinsrwn If our government from 200 years ago was here now, they’d tar and feather Obama and his whole cabinet.
He was interrupted 86 times for applause in a 70 minute speech. Impressive.
Ed Morrissey gives him an A for delivery. I disagree – he felt very defensive. Which, in some ways he had to be. He knows how badly he’s losing. He was relaxed when he was attacking the Republicans, and uncomfortable when we was addressing the people. Krauthammer describes his tone as strained.
Chris Matthews: “I forgot that he was black tonight.”
McDonnell nailed it. That is all.
