I am loving this.
I’m sure you heard the story that ran in several newspapers with this AP story:
“Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., told a reporter that as he left the Cannon House Office Building with Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a leader of the civil rights era, some among the crowd chanted “the N-word, the N-word, 15 times.” Both Carson and Lewis are black, and Lewis spokeswoman Brenda Jones also said that it occurred.”
The press went immediately to John Boehner and Michael Steele who said, predictably, that you can’t paint a movement or crowd with a couple of jerks shouting things.
Only problem? All video of the incident shows no such insults being hurled at Rep. Lewis. The left says they must have been edited. But with all the flip phones and videos of the event, not one person recorded it? Not even the media that were there?
Caron, of the Congressional Black Caucus said the “n” word was said “at least 15 times.” But as Big Journalism points out:
“YouTube video shows that at least two of the men in the procession were carrying video cameras and holding them above the crowd. They have not come forth with evidence to show that even one person hurled the vile racist epithet. The video also shows no head movement one way or another. Wouldn’t the N-word provoke a head turn or two?”
I was inclined to not believe it was said at all. Although I know it’s entirely possible in a crowd of thousands for someone to yell something offensive like that, it still rang false to me. I’ve been with the Tea Party since it’s inception. and in all that time and all the people I have met, if I had even noticed A HINT of anything prejudice, I would have denounced the Tea Party.
But I never have.
Also, I KNOW that if that had been said, others around him would have shut him up pretty quickly. They would have also seen if it was someone from the left there as a plant (this has happened before).
Now BigJournalism.com is offering $10,000 to the United Negro College fund if anyone can provide “verifiable video evidence showing that a single racist epithet was hurled” at Rep. Lewis as he walked among the tea partiers OR if he will pass a lie detector test saying he heard them.
We on the right are no longer willing to let the left try to paint us as racist. That is their last resort, and they are constantly playing that card. It’s despicable. We are not just going to stand by and let them spread this filth. They want to discredit the Tea Party movement, and it’s disgraceful that they use race to do it.
BigJournalism is so confident in the people in this movement that they are willing to put big money on it.
I’m pretty confident myself.
I was going to make this a separate blog post, but I think I will add it on, since it is related.
Ok, let’s just address this straight out. There seems to be threats and violence directed to Democrat Congressmen about healthcare. The media rushes out to ask Micheal Steele to address it. He does.
So where is the DNC chair condemning the same for threats and violence to Republican Congressmen?
It seems Republican Congressman Eric Cantor’s office was shot at.
Here is audio of an unedited call to Rep. Jean Schmidt’s (R-OH) office:
Speaker: “Yeah, I’m glad the president passed health care. Yeah. Funky a**, racist-a** Republicans hate that, don’t you? Jean Schmitt, when you got hit by that car, you should’ve broke your back, b***h. And Boehner, motherf***er…that Mitch McConnell. All you racist f**king Republicans. Why don’t you just change your party name to racist? Cuz if one of those f**king Tea b*ggers had spit on me, I’d have shot all them in the f*cking face with my f*cking 9 millimeter. F**k all you racist motherf**kers.”
So yesterday and today Congressmen Cantor and Van Hollen traded barbs about condemning the extremism.
Give me a freakin break.
Let’s don’t pretend that both sides don’t have looney toons, and the audio of Congresswoman’s Schmidt’s voice mail isn’t similiar to comments left at both right and leftwing blog sites. There are crude dangerous people out there that like to pretend they care about politics when all they want to do is spew filth, on both sides.
But what is ticking me off is that there is concentrated effort by the left to try to paint this as one sided. It isn’t. Anyone who deals with the political world knows this.
So I’m waiting for the media to ask the DNC chair his response to the threats and violence by the left.
I think I’ll be waiting awhile.
