MSNBC – and I realize they’re not usually legit media – currently has an interesting online poll out asking whether or not the words “In God We Trust” should be removed from U.S. currency. As it stands, the large majority of respondents – 71% of them – believe that the motto should remain as it is and causes no violation to the separation of church and state. Only 21% of 5,113,320 voters disagree.
Perhaps someone should tell this to Michael Newdow, the atheist with a vengeance who fought unsuccessfully for four years to ban the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. Losing on that front, he’s now dedicating his time to the equally admirable cause of eliminating God from our currency.
Glad to see someone has his priorities in the right place.
Thanks to Steve for the alert.
