Like most Americans who pay attention, I marvel on an almost daily basis at the self-destructive stupidity of the Left. They are a gang of squalling brats with an absolute sense of intellectual superiority despite the fact that they literally would be incapable of surviving without people who are more worldly than themselves doing the grunt work they refuse to do.
For example, take Joe Biden’s latest bizarre comments,
“No coal plants here in America,” he said. “Build them, if they’re going to build them, over there. Make them clean.”
“We’re not supporting clean coal,” he said of himself and Obama. They do, on paper, support clean coal.
The answer seems to play into John McCain’s case that Obama has been saying “no” to new sources of energy.
In the primary, Biden opposed Obama’s push for clean coal, which is seen as a way of maintaining or expanding America’s coal-burning power plants — many of which are in rust belt swing states.
This country is powered by oil, natural gas, nuclear power, and coal. If you took those four sources of energy away from us, I don’t care how many solar panels and windmills we build, all industry would stop and the country would literally go dark.
Yet, liberals ferociously oppose new nuclear power plants, drilling, and Joe Biden even opposes clean coal. What are we supposed to do? Run around like the Flintstones with our feet sticking out of the bottom of our cars?
Therein lies the irony: the Left is working overtime to throw this country off of a cliff on energy issues and meanwhile, they complain about the high cost of gas and complain we’re not meeting the country’s energy needs for the future.
Want to kvetch about OPEC? Fine, but the best pals OPEC has are the liberals who don’t want to let us use our own energy resources. If we don’t drill for our own oil, build more nuclear power plants, and use coal, then we’re going to be even more dependent on foreign oil. Whether the Left wants to admit that or not, it’s just a fact of life and we need to deal with it. It’s great to hold out for windmill-powered green cars and solar-powered cities, but you might as well be wishing for streets of gold and teleporters because technologically, both options are just as plausible for the foreseeable future.
