Perspective Is Everything. Exxon vs. The Government

The left loves to demonize companies like Exxon for their profits, but they never demonize the burdensome tax on our gas, when it is much much more. Did you know that gas stations are not allowed by federal law to break down their price so you can see how much tax by gallon you pay? Heaven forbid the customer be informed.

According to this post on Exxon Mobil’s Perspective Blog , “For every gallon of gasoline, diesel or finished products we manufactured and sold in the United States in the last three months of 2010, we earned a little more than 2 cents per gallon. That’s not a typo. Two cents.”

So, who looks all greedy now?

**Exxon’s post here says it earns 7 cents for every gallon, instead of 2 cents. The point remains the same. The gas tax is ridiculously more being 40 to 60 cents a gallon. Lots of good information at that last link to about the oil industry and taxes.
