Last week I wrote a post about parents who had spoiled their daughter were being sued by her. This week they decided to take her back home.
Rachel Canning, the 18-year-old high school cheerleader who sued her parents for college tuition, has agreed to move back in with them, her parents’ lawyer said Wednesday.Canning “has returned home and reunited with her parents and siblings. Her return home is not contingent on any financial and/or other considerations,” according to Angelo Sarno, attorney for the Canning parents.
The litigious high schooler had been living with her best friend, the daughter of wealthy New Jersey attorney and minor political figure John Inglesino. Inglesino reportedly encouraged Rachel to sue, and even advanced her legal fees.
The dispute between the teen and her parents centered around whether she was kicked out of the family home or left on her own accord because she didn’t want to follow the rules. Sean and Elizabeth Canning say their daughter was drinking and hanging out with an unsavory boyfriend, and also refused to respect a curfew.
They also claimed in a court filing that the Inglesino family has given Rachel access to alcohol since she was 15, and on one occasion, she got so drunk on vodka at their house that she vomited on the sidewalk before basketball practice.
Parents Won’t Have to Give Allowance to the Daughter Who’s Suing Them
The high school cheerleader and honor student who’s suing to force her parents to pay her college tuition has lost her first legal battle. A… Read…
Last week a judge refused to award Canning $650 a week in child support, the balance of the tuition at her private high school, and attorney’s fees.
The Cannings had invited their daughter to return home if she left her boyfriend. I do not find any mention of this anywhere so who knows. Perhaps they just like being in the news and brought her home for that purpose.
