Tea Party crashers?

Via Instapundit[1], a bunch of lefties are making plans to discredit the Tea Parties by pretending to be people they aren’t. This is from CrashTheTeaParty.org:[2]

WHO WE ARE: A nationwide network of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who are all sick and tired of that loose affiliation of racists, homophobes, and morons; who constitute the fake grass-roots movement which calls itself “The Tea Party.”

That’s funny for a reason that will become apparent soon. Read on.

WHAT WE WANT: To dismantle and demolish the Tea Party by any non-violent means necessary.

HOW WE WILL SUCCEED: By infiltrating the Tea party [sic] itself! In an effort to propagate their pre-existing propensity for paranoia and suspicion…We have already sat quietly in their meetings, and observed their rallies.

Whenever possible, we will act on behalf of the Tea Party in ways which exaggerate their least appealing qualities (misspelled protest signs, wild claims in TV interviews, etc.) to further distance them from mainstream America and damage the public’s opinion of them.

The funny part I referred to earlier: I know this is picky, but by using a semicolon in the first paragraph, they make the final sentence in that paragraph about them. They’re saying that they constitute the “fake grass-roots movement which calls itself ‘The Tea Party.'”

Which, you see, they are.

But they’re going to discredit us by faking poorly-spelled protest signs.

Again, yes, I know: this is a very picky point of punctuation. Misusing a semicolon isn’t the same thing as writing “Ron Paul: he’s are man” on a big piece of posterboard. Still. It’s called English, people. Use it.

Another funny thing: they’ve got an online store[3] where you can buy Crash The Tea Party shirts and other merchandise. Very subtle. Very inconspicuous.

Regardless. All you Tea Partiers, bloggers, and yes, you mainstream media reporters: be aware, the moron shouting racist slogans and holding the sign that looks like something a 3-year-old wrote might be an imposter. Just be aware.
