The Huffington Post, as a publicity stunt, invited all the Republican contenders in 2008 to participate in a debate. The idea here is that when they turn the HuffPo down, libs can say, “See, Democrats didn’t want to go on Fox and Republicans didn’t want to go on the Huffington Post.”
The leftward leaning Politico is, of course, playing along,
“As the Democratic candidates blow off debates sponsored by conservative-leaning FOX News, their Republican counterparts are giving the same back-of-the-hand treatment to liberal Huffington Post blog.”
Now, any sincere, informed person can tell you that there is a huge difference between Fox and the HuffPo. Fox, even though they lean to the right, can fairly be said to be the most “fair and balanced” news network. Although the biggest names on the network are conservatives, O’Reilly, Hannity, & Hume, they have on more liberal guests and give more air time to liberal ideas than any of the other networks give to conservatives. Fox’s 2nd debate was even co-hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus, but the Dems were still too frightened that they might get asked a tough question to appear.
On the other hand, the Huffington Post is a left-wing moonbat pit where they have to close the comments on any post that refers to a Republican being injured or in danger to keep hundreds of people from chiming in with some variation of, “I wish he’d have died in horrible pain!”
Moreover, Democrats lose a big prospective audience of moderates and liberals by skipping the Fox debates while Republicans lose nothing but an opportunity to be asked questions about impeaching Bush and the CIA’s “controlled demolition” of the Twin Towers while a bunch of rabid, jeering anti-war loons and conspiracy freaks, who wouldn’t vote Republican if you put a gun to their heads, look on.
In the end, it’s the Democrats, not Fox News, that will lose the most by skipping the debates. Keeping your message from getting out to millions of potential voters in order to please Kos and Company is too high of a price to pay.
