The Leadership of the Catholic

The Leadership of the Catholic Church Just Doesn’t Get It: I have trouble fathoming why the leadership of Catholic church[1] seems so incredibly reluctant to crack down on the child molesters who’ve infested their ranks. I mean look at the latest claptrap coming from the Vatican…

“The final document said church leaders would recommend a process to defrock any priest who has become “notorious and is guilty of the serial, predatory sexual abuse of minors.” In cases that are “not notorious,” they would leave it up to the local bishop to decide whether such a priest is a threat to children and should be defrocked.

It became obvious at Wednesday’s news conference that church leaders remain divided over how to proceed.

Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of Washington, D.C., had said earlier that the pope had clearly paved the way for a one-strike-and-you’re-out policy for new cases of abuse by priests.

“Anyone in the future who would do something like that to a child or a youngster, then that is it,” McCarrick said.”

So if you molested a child in the past, the church still thinks you’re fit to be a priest? If you molest a kid tomorrow and don’t become “notorious” by being caught, you’re fine. You’ll just get moved somewhere else with a fresh set of unsuspecting children to prey on. If you get caught again does that make you a “serial” offender? What if you get caught 3, 4, 5, 6, times? Are you a “serial” offender then? Is this the church’s policy for everything or just child molesting? I mean let’s you chop off a parishioners’ head and stuff it in your refrigerator. As long as you don’t get caught do you get a slap on the wrist and a transfer to a new church? What if you and a bunch of Satanist friends sacrifice a virgin on the altar of the church? Is that a “one time and you’re out” sort of thing or do you get multiple tries at it?

Any person with common sense knows that people are not going to want to be involved with a church that allows it’s priests to molest children. If the Vatican can’t figure that out, then they’re committing institutional suicide by their own hand.
