Houston Resident SHOCKED by US Marshals Arresting Him – The Reason WHY is CRAZY

A Houston resident, Paul Aker, was surprised to notice a “suspicious truck” parked outside of his house when he woke up one morning. What happened to him next was UNBELIEVABLE:[1]

A few hours later, when Aker was greeted by 7 armed U.S. Marshals at his door, he was even more surprised to learn that they were placing him under arrest, all for a $1,500 federal student loan he had taken out in 1987.

As Aker would soon learn, he’s far from being the last to have this experience, thanks to a surprising policy the government is now employing.

As Fox 26 explains:

“Congressman Gene Green says the federal government is now using private debt collectors to go after those who owe student loans.

Green says as a result, those attorneys and debt collectors are getting judgements in federal court and asking judges to use the U.S. Marshals Service to arrest those who have failed to pay their federal student loans.”
In Aker’s case, it was later explained in court that the Marshals showed up to his house with “combat weapons” because he was a registered firearm owner, prompting him to argue:

“It’s out of control. Out of control. What if they had seen a gun on me? They would have shot me for 1,500 bucks.”
Nonetheless, U.S. Marshals are still reportedly set to serve between 1,200 and 1,500 warrants due to federal student debt loans, a number that could balloon exponentially thanks to the massive amount of student debt facing most graduates today.

$1500? Are these people SERIOUS? Are there not more serious issues for US Marshals to be addressing? Perhaps they need to re-evaluate and triage the seriousness of offenses that they need to be bringing enforcement down on. By the way, guys, there is a border to patrol if you are that bored. I’m just sayin’
