[VIDEO] The ‘Big One’: First Smash Up for the 2015 Sprint Cup Unlimited Race

Over the weekend the first major on-track accident of the 2015 Sprint Cup Unlimited occurred sending Greg Biffle into the back of Jamie McMurray’s No. 1 Chevrolet spinning him out. McMurray’s spin out brought down half a dozen cars and spread fiery debris across the track.

Fox Sports has the story[1]…

With no place to go, a total of 12 cars piled into the wreck as the field screamed through the tri-oval.

When the smoke cleared, McMurray, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kyle Busch, Paul Menard, Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola, and Jimmie Johnson were all involved.

Danica Patrick and Matt Kenseth both made extreme moves to avoid the incident, and Kenseth went on to win the race.

Biffle tried to shift blame for the incident, saying over the radio, “Jamie was super loose there. He was wiggling all over the place.”

After climbing from his wrecked car, McMurray agreed.

“Well, it was when he had my back tires off the ground. It’s hard to hang onto it,” McMurray told FOX. “He was helping me, and it happened two or three times before; it’s just part of it. When you get a big run like that, you get to the guy and have to start pushing, because if you don’t, you lose all your momentum.

“Everyone’s racing really hard tonight. It was actually a lot of fun out there,” said McMurray.

A total mess! At least no one was hurt.
