While Obama is working on making Donald Trump’s first year as President as difficult as possible, Russia’s Vladimir Putin is putting our current President in his place. It’s nice to see that some leader somewhere is taking him down a notch.
Putin addressed the “fake information” that he claims is only being circulated as a means of undermining Trump’s impending Presidency.
Obama has two more days of leadership left, but Putin isn’t done with him yet.
The Russian leader held a press conference on Tuesday where he took on our President and what Putin claims is the intentional release of fake information to cast doubt on Trump and his election.
Putin told those attending a press conference Tuesday in Moscow that Obama’s release of “fake information” is his attempt to “undermine the president-elect’s legitimacy.”
This information included, among other things, claims that prostitutes were invited to visit President-elect Donald Trump at a Moscow hotel.
Putin called these allegations “fake” and “nonsense.” The Russian president criticized anyone using such tactics, saying, “People who order such fakes against the U.S. president-elect, fabricate them and use them in political struggle, are worse than prostitutes. They have no moral restrictions whatsoever.”
Putin ridiculed those who suggested Moscow compiled such a dossier on Trump, saying, “He wasn’t a politician, we didn’t even know about his political ambitions.”
Dismissing the information as “fake,” Putin said, “Our security services do not chase every U.S. billionaire.”
Putin said those opposing Trump are attempting to thwart his installation as president.
“People who are doing that are inflicting a colossal damage to the interests of the United States,” said Putin, who added that he hoped “common sense will prevail.”
Putin also believes those spreading the allegations against Trump are attempting to “bind the president-elect hand and foot to prevent him from fulfilling his election promises.”
I don’t even like Vladimir Putin a little bit. I think he’s a terrible man doing terrible things, but in this case he’s got a point. All of these fake news stories regarding Trump are simply giving people ammo to doubt his legitimacy as President and undermine his authority.
