Even though Barry is just attempting to look tough, engaged, and in charge, he is mostly just covering his posterior with all his press conferences and speeches. I will give him points, though, as painful as that is, for at least defending himself. One of the things that drove Conservatives nuts during the Bush years was that George wouldn’t defend his policies and such. Of course, when it came to the personal smears, Dubya was wise to ignore them and the major idiots who pushed them. Anyhow
President Barack Obama declared that America is at war with al Qaeda on Thursday at the White House, as he presented measures the United States must take to prevent another terrorist attack similar to the one that nearly succeeded on board a Christmas Day flight from Amsterdam to Detroit.
“We are at war, we are at war against al Qaeda,” Obama said, a departure from the administration’s move in 2009 to discontinue the phrase “Global War on Terrorism” from U.S. policy.
That’s a far cry from his “Operation Overseas Contingency” and Janet Incompitado’s “man caused disasters” stupidity, eh? Hopefully, it is sinking in that these people want to kill us. Period. As a sidebar, imagine if Bush had declared war on Al Qaeda. The left and the MSM would flay him because that is “Congresses power.” Meanwhile, I wonder what happened to his empathy for the jihadis?
We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. (etc and so on)
Rudy Giuliani praised Obama for finally waking up, at least a bit, however, he is wondering about something
“It seems to me we’re going to be trying the most dangerous terrorists in the wrong place,” former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said on “Good Morning America” today.
Giuliani argued that if Abdulmutallab, 23, is tried in a military court the government would have more time to interrogate him.
“If you put someone in a civilian court, within a short period of time a lawyer is appointed and the person shuts up. If you have a person in the military system you can question him endlessly for as long as you have to make sure you have gotten the full scope of information,” Giuliani said.
“This isn’t about whether you convict them or not. It’s about whether you get information or not,” Giuliani said.
During war time, you get information out of the enemy, not try them in court. Will Obama wake up to this?
A second side note: the above ABC article calls the Crotchbomber “alleged,” like there is quite a bit of doubt about whether he did it or not. Meanwhile, a lawyer who once worked in the Bush admin is charged with murder, and ABC news has all but convicted him. No “alleged’s” in that article.
