Tucson Blame Game: Democrats Go to Congress Monday for Gun Control

Tucson Massacre Sends Democrats and Liberal Media into Blame-Game Overdrive

A Summary of Facts About Jared Loughner, “Target Maps,” Slurs and What to Do Now

Democrats Have Been Using “Bulls-Eyes” and Calling for Violence, Not the Tea Party

Democrats Running to Congress Monday: with : Gun Control Bill

A whole lot of debunking about this weekend’s massacre in Tucson, Arizona needs to be done and FAST. Democrats are getting ready to hyper-react to the Tucson massacre by grabbing guns and free speech.

Our prayers for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords — recovering from brain surgery and all the victims and families in Tucson

More on what Congress may do farther down in this post. First, here are GOOD facts to counter-balance the Democratic/liberal/left’s smears/libels/hate speech and an action plan:

#1: The much-maligned Sarah Palin “target map” of Democratic candidates did not : inspire Jared Loughner to shoot Congresswoman Giffords.

Much has been made of the Sarah Palin “target map” of Democrat candidates. Her map was first posted March 23, 2010 on her Facebook page. Here is that posting. Note the now-infamous ‘targets’ on the map, which look more like inkblots. ( the map here may or may not have been scrubbed)

Response: Notes found in Jared Loughner’s house now show police that he had met Congresswoman Giffords at a “constituents’ event” in 2007 and had begun targeting her then, LONG BEFORE any map by Palin or any tea party.

There WAS NO TEA Party in 2007. Sarah Palin was a governor in Alaska. Her “target map” was 3 years away.

#2 Democrats and liberals, such as leftie-website Daily Kos, have been using targets and bulls-eyes to label candidates for much longer than Sarah Palin. In fact, “Kos” put targets on Congresswoman Giffords because she wasn’t deemed liberal enough and even carried a blog post from a reader, Boy Blue, (who is thought to be Loughner) who posted on Kos a few days before the shootings that Giffords was “dead to him” because she isn’t liberal enough.

#3: There were warnings about the suspect’s mental instability for months:

In June, 2010: Jared Loughner’s classmates at community college were so scared of his bizarre behavior in class, that they were emailing and keeping detailed records because they feared he would bring a gun to class some time and do harm.

Loughner’s text messages, furtiveness, and sudden interest in guns several months ago scared his friends. Loughner was a 9/11 “truther” and told them he became angry at the Congresswoman in 2007 when she didn’t adequately answer his (unintelligible) question at a forum.

#4 The person who apparently started the media ball rolling on Saturday blaming Sarah Palin’s target map and Republicans, and who first (wrongly) labeled killer Loughner as an Afghanistan war veteran was Arizona state senator Linda Lopez. She is extremely left-wing (open borders, gun control) and a friend of Congresswoman Giffords who was interviewed by Shep Smith on Fox News very early in the crisis on Saturday. (slap you Shep for being such a pansy and not calling her out on all her smearing and slandering. He slobbered along with Lopez. Media malpractice for failure to pose adequate follow-up questions.)

See the video interview here. BlackFive demands Lopez apologize to all military veterans for her baseless, irresponsible, fact-fudging.

#5 What started with Lopez quickly became a media monkey-pile on conservatives, the tea party and Sarah Palin. Here are just a few examples of the outrageous “blood libels”:

CNN Reporters say Palin is to blame

Rep. James Clyburn blames the shooting on Sharron Angle

Mark Potok of Southern Poverty Law Center

U. S. Socialist Party says this was a political assassination inspired by Saran Palin statements and chart

Democrat Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. of New Jersey blamed Fox News for the murders. Immediately after the first bulletins, he told a local newspaper: “There’s an aura of hate and elected politicians feed it, certain people on Fox News feed it.”

Geraldo Rivera goes out of his way to connect conservatives and tea party to the killings

Crud-cake economist Paul Krugman, who blogged on the New York Times website before the victims had even been identified: “We don’t have proof yet that this was political, but the odds are that it was…

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik continues to defend his baseless, asshat news conference Saturday where he refused to discuss the “true” facts of the murder in favor of ranting about Republicans. He outrageously claimed that political rhetoric and “vitriol” caused Loughner to shoot Giffords. Under questioning by Megyn Kelly on Sunday, Dupnik admitted there that there is no proof that Loughner had any political reasons for murder, but he took his leftish screed even farther, railing “we need to do something” about free speech (and Republicans, of course.)

#6 Never let a good bloody shopping center massacre go to waste?

According to Politico: Several unnamed Democrat operatives are reported to have said, “[we] need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers… Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people” and “[there is a] climate of bitter and virulent rhetoric against the government and Democrats.”

#7 According to Warner Todd Huston at Big Government, a prominent progressive fund-raising group with ties to the leftist website Daily Kos, immediately sent out emails during Saturday’s shooting aftermath, blaming Sarah Palin and asking for campaign donations.

#8 It didn’t even take 24 hours after the shooting and HERE COMES THE BIG NANNY BRIGADE:

Gun control bill coming possibly as soon as Monday…

And what do we call this? Cartoon control???

From the NY Times (ht: Verum Serum via Allahpundit via Twitter):

Representative Bob Brady of Pennsylvania told The Caucus he plans to introduce a bill that would ban symbols like that now-infamous campaign crosshair map.

“You can’t threaten the president with a bullseye or a crosshair,” Mr. Brady, a Democrat, said, and his measure would make it a crime to do so to a member of Congress or federal employee, as well.

Asked if he believed the map incited the gunman in Tucson, he replied, “I don’t know what’s in that nut’s head. I would rather be safe than sorry.”

#9 Professor Glenn Reynolds nails it:

To be clear, if you’re using this event to criticize the “rhetoric” of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you’re either: (a) asserting a connection between the “rhetoric” and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you’re not, in which case you’re just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?

I understand the desperation that Democrats must feel after taking a historic beating in the midterm elections and seeing the popularity of ObamaCare plummet while voters flee the party in droves. But those who purport to care about the health of our political community demonstrate precious little actual concern for America’s political well-being when they seize on any pretext, however flimsy, to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

Where is the decency in that?

#10 It is actually President Obama who is engaging in calls for violence:

Theblogprof has a roundup of many examples of inflammatory rhetoric by Democrats:

  • “Here’s the problem: It’s almost like they’ve got – they’ve got a bomb strapped to them and they’ve got their hand on the trigger. You don’t want them to blow up. But you’ve got to kind of talk them, ease that finger off the trigger.” Barack Obama on banks, March 2009
  • “A Republican majority in Congress would mean ‘hand-to-hand combat’ on Capitol Hill for the next two years, threatening policies Democrats have enacted to stabilize the economy.” Barack Obama, October 6, 2010

Blogprof also has a very frightening video calling for a violent revolution by leftists which I had not seen before, but which America should see now in light of this controversy:

On January 8th MSNBC guests Eugene Robinson and Josh Marshall, along with host Keith Olbermann, soberly assured their viewers that violent, political rhetoric is exclusive to the American right.

Two months earlier, on November 8th, MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan called for a new American revolution and featured guest Ted Rall who advocates a violent overthrow of the government.

#11 What can we do about any of this? For starters, let Sheriff Dupnik and State Senator Lopez hear from you: politely, firmly, in vast numbers.

Hillbuzz has some suggested talking points and says it is best to send post cards. The boyzz even have suggested wording and a printable, hilarious post card if you want to print and send that. Tell Sheriff Dope-neck what a buffoonish, partisan, hack he is. He is ignoring the facts of the case.

Same with Arizona State Senator Linda Lopez: Don’t let these people get away with this crap. Be firm, be polite. Melt the phone lines Monday and send post cards.
