It’s a parent’s worst nightmare: their toddler runs out into the street and is struck by a car, killing them. When Archie Brown Jr. hit and killed a two-year-old who had done just that — run out into the street — he did the right thing and stopped the car; and for that, he was murdered in cold blood.
A driver in Milwaukee was fatally shot Sunday afternoon when he stayed on the scene after his van struck and killed a 2-year-old child, Milwaukee police said.
A 15-year-old at the scene was also shot and was taken to a hospital.
Capt. Timothy Heier reported that the toddler ran into the street at 5:10 p.m. in the 4600 block of N. 48th St., according to a news release.
The driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No suspects are in custody, police said.
