ISIS jihadists in Yemen attacked a nursing that had been established by Mother Teresa. Christians are often the target of ISIS extremists, but to target elderly people who likely cannot defend themselves is extra cruel.
Conservative Tribune reports,
Four gunmen opened fire on the home, run by a charity established by Mother Teresa, and killed at least 15 people, including four Missionaries of Charity nuns. Other victims included two Yemeni women and a guard who worked at the facility, as well as eight residents.
The gunmen entered the building claiming they were there to visit to their mother. Once inside, they opened fire, one local official of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia told the Vatican’s Fides news agency.
According to Associated Press, the gunmen moved from room to room, handcuffed their victims and then shot them in the head.
A nun who survived said that she hid inside a refrigerator in a storeroom after hearing a guard shouting, “Run, run.”
The jihadists fled after the attack — not that they would have been brought to justice anyway, with the country in such turmoil. At least 6,200 civilians have been killed in the unrest there. The irony is not wasted; Mother Teresa was all about peace. Whereas ISIS is all about destroying everything and everyone into pieces.
