Gen. Michael Hayden, an ex-CIA director, goes on the record to state that he would be worried about Donald Trump ordering the United States military to do unlawful acts. He also stated, in his interview with Bill Maher, that the military would disobey Trump upon ordering any unlawful act to be committed.
“You’re required not to follow an unlawful order. That would be in violation of all the international laws of armed conflict,” Hayden said. “I would be incredibly concerned if a President Trump governed in a way that was consistent with the language candidate Trump expressed during the campaign.”
This is in reference specifically to Trump’s quotes regarding waterboarding, to which I say – bring more water! Ideally, you don’t want to be in war in the first place, but if you are and you need central intelligence, then I’d like to think waterboarding isn’t as bad as some of the other medieval torture procedures that some military use to gain info.
