What started out as a joking tweet turned into something pretty awesome. When one Eastern Kentucky University student challenged the president to shovel his driveway, the president rose to the occasion — and the tweet turned into something much bigger.

Yo @EKUPrez come shovel my driveway/road and I'll come to class tomorrow… deal???

The President of Eastern Kentucky University spent Tuesday afternoon shoveling a student’s driveway after being challenged on Twitter.
The student sent President Michael Benson a tweet saying he would come to class on Wednesday if Dr. Benson shoveled his driveway in Berea.
Dr. Benson accepted the challenge and posted a picture on Twitter with the finished product.
The student, Devan Dannelly, invited Benson in for a meal with his family, and then decided to pay it forward, tweeting out to his friends asking who wanted their driveway shoveled, only for it to catch on among EKU students, who likewise started sharing pictures of sidewalks and driveways they shoveled. Benson’s small act of kindness turned into something much bigger, inspiring many others to do something to help others, and that’s something to be celebrated.
