These things are massively gross and hard to watch. I can’t imagine going through one of these procedures (much less making a video of it), but if you have to, there is no one better than Dr. Sandra Lee (aka Dr. Pimple Popper). She handles these left and right with calm, competent professionalism. The woman is the very best at what she does.
This is an inflamed blackhead on a woman’s back. It is what they call an open comedo. A comedo is a clogged hair follicle (pore) in the skin. Keratin (skin debris) combines with oil to block the follicle. This one looks infected and painful. Before the good doc begins, she thoroughly cleans the area and anesthetizes the patient to prevent the procedure from being any more painful than it needs to be.

While she chats up her patient after numbing her, Sandra opens the blackhead and starts pulling out dead skin debris. A lot of it. Ever gentle, there is still pressure and she has to press and squeeze constantly to get the desired results. The spot is a bit scarred, so it is even more tender. They had tried to drain it themselves, but could never get all of it out of there.
This goes on and on until the good doctor is finished and cleans up. She has to get it totally cleaned out so it won’t come back. She then makes sure the wound is closed and cleans it one more time for good measure.
These procedures are not for those who have weak stomachs. I can only imagine the patient’s relief once the offending blackhead is removed. Whatever Dr. Lee makes, it’s nowhere near enough.
