We tend to only hear about violence and police when it is perpetrated by police. Yesterday, a Louisiana Deputy who was directing traffic was shot multiple times by an unidentified man.
“A St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot multiple times in an “ambush” Thursday morning, officials said.
The deputy, who was identified as Cpl. Burt Hazeltine, was directing traffic in a school zone about 9 a.m. on Highway 90 and Louisiana Streets in Paradis when shots were fired.
Officials said Hazeltine was struck in the elbow, eye and chest. The Sheriff’s Office said a bullet was lodged behind Hazeltine’s left eye and is suffering from internal bleeding.
A suspect was in custody within minutes of the shooting, authorities said. The suspect’s name wasn’t released.” – Report originally from WDSU.
With these random police attacks happening often, it is certainly understandable why a few officers are on edge a lot of the time. Our prayers go out to Cpl. Hazeltine and his family.
